Nick Reid

Nick Reid

Nick started his jiu jitsu journey in 2015. He had always been an avid MMA fan, where he watched the Mir vs Nogueria bout at UFC 140, sparking his curiosity in learning jiu jitsu. The very next day he drove past 10th Planet South Melbourne, signing up for his first class. He never looked back.

Nick was originally attracted to the practical / self defence application of jiu jitsu and soon discovered how much fun training really was! Learning that while you are getting a great workout in for the whole body, jiu jitsu also provides self belief and self confidence, attributing in many areas of his life. Relying on discipline over motivation for his own training, Nick became to greatly appreciate that jiu jitsu has showed him the value of setting and working towards long term goals. Applying these simple philosophies with a positive mindset in his life, Nick has rapidly excelled in his professional career.

Handstand Jiu jitsu is far more beyond a great physical conditioning system, it also provides great mental and personal skills in so many aspects.

Nick particularly enjoys the adaptability of 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu, and Eddie’s willingness to update and improve techniques when better options are shown to him. This has created a great culture of constant self-analysis and improvement. In the words of 10th Planet Black Belt Amir Allam, “The lockdown is not the 10th Planet gospel, an open mind is the 10th Planet gospel.”

A regular competitor on the tournament scene, Nick has secured gold and silver medals in the Advanced divisions at Grappling Industries events, as well as gold at sub-only competitions as a blue belt. His most recent accomplishment traveling to Downtown Los Angeles to train with and learn from Eddie Bravo himself.
Outside of Jiu Jitsu, Nick enjoys watching sports and playing video games.

Tom Davis

Tom Davis

Tom Davis and crew Tom fell in love with jiu jitsu when he started training in 2015, falling into it by accident. Originally training in kickboxing as a teen and continuing his path at a new gym, Tom did his first jiu jitsu class and found himself humbled after repeatedly being submitted and ‘man-handled’ by significantly smaller and lighter training partners. From here, he became obsessed.

Jiu jitsu has become an anchor in Tom’s life as it allows him to the best possible version of himself. He enjoys learning the 10th Planet jiu jitsu system as it continues to demonstrate how a smaller, weaker person is able to control a much larger opponent.

Tom Davis teaching Tom regularly competes in no-gi tournaments around Australia, holding a number of gold medals from his divisions including 2 gold medals after competing in Lockdown Series competitions.
Off the mat, Tom is a security officer at Crown Resorts and enjoys reading and playing video games.
